Search tips

How to Search
There are three ways you can search for assets in the Asset Library: quick search, filter search, and collections. Or you can use a combination of these to refine your results.

Quick search bar
To search, just type a word or phrase into the search bar and select the magnifying glass or press enter to bring back the results. To search on all assets just select the magnifying glass or press enter.

The Asset Library search engine will look for the search term in titles, descriptions, tags, creator, collection names and asset IDs. Assets are tagged from a controlled list of predefined terms to ensure accurate and consistent search results. A list of the terms is available if you need help creating your searches.

If you want to search on an exact word or phrase (2 or more words together) place it between double-quotation marks.

The search results will load. You can further refine your results by typing additional search terms (separated by a space) into the search bar.

To select asset type (photography or video/footage) click on the drop down arrow to left of the search bar, or by choosing from the filters on the left-hand side of the page.

To reset the search, select the X on the right hand side of the search field.

Filter search
Click on the filter icon to the left of the quick search box on the homepage.

Select a filter and choose one of the options from the dropdown menu to narrow down results. You can combine multiple filters for more accurate results.

The filters use a list of predefined terms in different fields to help you refine your results.
You can filter on nation; region; popular cities; national parks; setting; activities; festivals and events; concepts; people; file size; asset orientation; date created and permitted usage.
The filters will be added to the search bar when select them.

If you want to search on an exact phrase (2 or more words together) place it double-quotation marks.

To remove them individually just click on them in the filter list or click off them in the search bar. If you have selected multiple filters click the X on the right hand side of the search bar to remove them all.

Collections
Browse a selection of featured collections underneath the quick search bar on the Asset Library homepage.

You can refine your results within a collection by typing search terms in the search bar and using the filters on the left-hand side.

Search results display
You can display search results in ascending or descending order according to asset number; date created; and by date last updated. The display order selector is located on the right-hand side of the page, above the image in the top right corner of the search results.

Use the display format dropdown list to the right of the display order selector to see your search results in either a row, column, square or list format.
